Focus on the Family Protests Over Denied Ad

Focus on the Family is staging a protest outside the San Antonio Express-News for denying an ad for their conference on overcoming homosexuality.

The conservative group says the paper refused to publish the ad for the Love Won Out conference, which takes place in Texas Saturday.

The weekend event is designed to help Christians deal with issues of homosexuality in a Christ-like manner.

In the ad, Focus on the Family's Jeff Johnston shares his personal story about being set free from same-sex attraction. The paper called the ad offensive. See the ad here

It's a story Johnston shared with CBN News 12 years ago when we met him and his wife at a similar conference.

"Initially, like I said they didn't give any reason. And then they said they didn't want to offend the gay community," Johnston told CBN News Tuesday. "Evidently they are catering to that audience and in the process they are showing their own intolerance of those who have a different message-- a message that God loves you and God empowers you to change."

CBN News called the publisher of the San Antonio Express News for its side the story but calls have not been returned.
