The California Sunday school teacher accused of killing an 8-year-old last week will face a judge Tuesday.
Police arrested Melissa Huckaby on Good Friday for the murder of Sandra Cantu.
Easter Sunday, Huckaby's church paused to pray for her and Cantu's family.
Clover Road Baptist Church members arrived ready for Easter services, but worship wasn't easy. Their church building is at the heart of a murder investigation.
Huckaby, 28, is also the granddaughter of the church's pastor, Rev. Lan Lawless.
"I have no doubt in mind she knows right from wrong - at least I thought she did," he said.
Lawless invited reporters inside the church Sunday, but cameras were not allowed to record the Easter service that began with a prayer for Cantu's family and ended with a prayer for Huckaby.
"She loved children and was very compassionate," said Huckaby's father, Brian Lawless.
Huckaby's stunned family spoke with reporters at the services and expressed sympathy to the victim's family.
"We're very, very shocked. It's very out of character of Melissa," her aunt Joni Hughes said.
Huckaby is now behind bars.
The single mom lived just doors away from Cantu's family-- a family who's finding it hard to accept sympathy or even their prayers from the Huckabys.
"I have to restrain myself," said Cantu's uncle Joe Chavez. "I'm going to hold back and let the law do its job."
