Disabled Soldiers Learn to Water Ski

Some U.S. soldiers who were wounded while serving in the line of duty are getting a chance to learn to water ski at Sea World.

It is part of an event called All Can Ski.

San Antonio Sports has been sponsoring the annual tradition for the soldiers since 1992.

Of the 81 people who attended the program on Wednesday and Thursday, 26 of them were military veterans. And most participated in a special session for wounded veterans Thursday.

"It was real fun," said Sgt. Michael Gallardo, a 23-year-old from Los Angeles who lost part of a leg in a blast in Iraq last year.

The man-made lake ordinarily used by the park's professional water-skiers was open Thursday to amputees who rode wakes with water skis fitted on chairs or on their prosthetic legs.
