A group that supports traditional marriage is attempting to change an Iowa state Supreme Court decision that legalizes same-sex marriage there.
The National Organization for Marriage is seeking donations for their $90,000 advertisement campaign to boost political candidates who support marriage between a man and a woman.
Brian Brown, the group's executive director, said donations "allow us to rapidly intervene… in key races across the country where a handful of House or Senate seats could make the difference between whether a same-sex marriage bill or state marriage amendment passes or fails."
The campaign, called the Reclaim Iowa Project, is set to begin Sept. 1 in support of Republican Stephen Burgmeier who is up for election in Iowa. Burgmeier faces Democrat Curt Hanson.
Iowa was the third state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage.
