The Bible teaches to put others before yourself. And that is exactly what one North Carolina teacher did for his coworker.

Long-time teacher Jim Bell sacrificed his own job for the sake of a fellow teacher.

Bell taught social studies to thousands of kids throughout the years at Owen Middle School.

He intended to continue a few more years before retiring.

But budget cuts and the prospect of three teachers losing their jobs forced him to make a tough decision.

"It's time for me to get out and I did," Bell said. "If one of them got kicked out - they may not ever go back. He's such a good man and I know he saw me in tears that day and I know he was put in a tough spot," he added.

Bell says he resigned to make room for new, younger teachers

He hopes they'll touch as many lives as he has.
