Dallas Ministry Throws Homeless Christmas Party

Thousands of homeless people from across Texas were given the party of a lifetime over the weekend at the Dallas Convention Center.

The Christmas celebration offered a feast of food, presents and spa treatments such as haircuts, makeovers and even pedicures. All of the invitees were bussed in for the pampering.

The event was sponsored by the group Operation Care, a ministry that started in 1993 donating blankets to the poor.

"I started giving away blankets and out of that, I became the blanket lady of Dallas," Operation Care founder Susie Jennings said.

Volunteer Fred Hamilton said, "I was in this situation at one time, and I know what the Lord can do."

Organizers estimate that as many as 15,000 people without homes attended this year's party.
