A new MTV-Associated Press study reveals 'sexting' has become prevalent among America's youth.

Sexting is defined as sending sexually explicit photos, videos, and even chat messages on a cell phone or online.

According to the study released Thursday, 30 percent of young adults ages 14 to 24 say they have either sent or received nude photographs through cell phones or the Internet.

Some have faced felony charges in Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. A couple of those cases even led to suicide.

The report also said that "61 percent of those who have sent a naked photo or video of themselves have been pressured by someone else to do so at least once."

The study surveyed 1,247 young adults in what the authors called an "online panel that is representative of the entire U.S. population."
