NY Post Political Cartoon Seen as Racist

CBNnews.com - A political cartoon published in the New York Post, Wednesday, is being called a racist attack on President Obama.

The controversial cartoon shows a dead chimpanzee and a police officer with a smoking gun. The picture's caption reads, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."

Community leaders and politicians are now lining up in protest of the drawing.

"He's not a chimpanzee, he is our President," New York Sen. Eric Adams said. "It's going to take some people to get their jungle minds out of the gutter and realize they've got to get over it."

Protestors call it disrespectful and insulting, in light of history and racial stereotypes.

Still, New York Post editors are not backing down.

"The cartoon is a parody of a current news event, which is the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut," they said in a statement. "It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the country."
