CBNNews.com - The head of the U.S Postal Service will have to answer to Congress about his recent pay raises.
The Washington Times reports Postmaster General John Potter's salary will be the the focus of a Capitol Hill hearing next month.
Potter took home more than $800,000 last year. That number equals nearly a 40 percent pay raise since 2006.
This comes during a time of budget shortfalls at the postal service and talk of cutting back a day of mail delivery.
Postal officials defend Potter's compensation package, saying executives in the private industry earn much more money.
For example, the chief executive of Fed-Ex earned more than $10 million last year.
