More than a million people crammed onto the National Mall, Tuesday, to witness the swearing-in of the nation's first black president.

 The crowd was so tightly packed that some people complained they felt claustrophobic.

But a few hardy souls, willing to stay up the entire night, managed to make it past all the security to get the earliest positions.
