Thousands of young Lutherans decided to donate their hair to the Locks of Love charity in New Orleans while participating in a church convention held there over the weekend.
Volunteers are also helping out to fix remaining storm damage throughout the city.
The donated hair will go to kids who have lost their locks from cancer treatments.
Many of the donors grew out their hair for more than a year. The response was so overwhelming, leaders enlisted more stylists to help out.
"We started on Wednesday with one hair cutter. We added another hair cutter on Thursday, we couldn't keep up on Friday," Lutheran pastor Gloria Dovre told a local Fox affiliate.
The volunteers were participating in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Conference from July 22-26.
