In central Texas, people have been praying to God for rain...and He answered their prayers.
The pouring rains were a welcome site in Comal county, during one of the worst droughts on record in their area.
Hours after the rain stopped, people gathered for a non-denominational prayer service in the center of the town of New Braunfels.
Former Astronaut charlie Duke said his wife, Dotty, organized the prayer service. Dotty said she actually prayed for rain for several weeks.
"We got a shower, we got a shower came in and the Lord showing what He's gonna do," she said.
"I pray that God would break the drought not only in Comal County but all over South Texas," Charlie said.
"But I know one thing that we don't have a drought of and that is faith in this community," New Braunfels Mayor Bruce Boyer said.
One resident praying for rain called the recent shower a down payment, and said there is more to come.
