The government's "Cash for Clunkers" program is running out of money and the funds could be exhausted by as early as next week.
At least $1 billion was set aside for the program and at least $850 million has already been spent.
"Cash for clunkers," also known as CARS, allows owners of old cars and trucks to receive $3,500 to $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle. And people are taking advantage of it.
The White House said it will begin re-evaluating the rebate program Friday and all options are on the table to keep the program funded.
