There is new outrage surrounding the death of abortion doctor, George Tiller.

At a memorial service held for Tiller in Washington DC, fellow abortionist Dr. Leroy Carhart compared Tiller's murder to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Washington Times reported.

Tiller's murder was the "equivalent of Martin Luther King being assassinated," the Washington Times reported Carhart as saying.

He went on to name other comparisons -- like Pearl Harbor. But it's his attempt to compare Tiller to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that has the King family outraged.

King's niece, Dr. Alveda King, called the comparison "offensive beyond belief."

"I went to visit Dr. Tiller a few years ago. I went to his clinic, and my message was 'I am post abortive. Will you please understand that abortion hurts women and would you please have mercy on the little babies,'" she said.

"We mourn the death of Dr. Tiller, but to compare the contribution of Dr. Tiller to those of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a terrible injustice," she added.

The Wichita clinic Dr. Alveda King visited is now permanently closed. Tiller's family decided to shut it down
