Speaking Tuesday to Episcopalians splitting from their national church, evangelical Pastor Rick Warren spoke a message of loving all people no matter what their beliefs.
Warren's sermon to the newly-formed conservative Anglican Church in North America focused on the need to love people, but not the world's values.
"The problem today is a lot of Christians are getting that reversed," he said. They love the value system and hate the people."
"God has never met a person he didn't love," he added.
About 800 gathered to hear Warren of California's Saddleback Church speak on the lawn of St. Vincent's Episcopal Cathedral Church in Bedford, Texas.
The group left the Episcopal church in a dispute over allowing gay clergy.
