Funeral services were held today for the Illinois pastor who was gunned down during a morning church service, Sunday.
Pastor Fred Winters died after a gunman shot him while he was preaching.
Hundreds packed the road leading to the First Baptist Church of Maryville, Ill., as they arrived for the memorial. Winters leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
Rev. Al Meredith of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth will preach at Winter's church this Sunday.
Ten years ago, Wedgwood was the site of one of the worst church shootings in U.S. History, when a gunman killed seven people during a youth service.
Pastor Meredith spoke with CBN News by phone today about the recovery process.
"Small groups, Sunday school classes, cell groups become support groups and you just share and you weep and you pray with one another," Meredith explained about the process. "And then you get together to worship God and acknowledge that He is Lord and He is sovereign and He does all things well."
Meredith also told CBN News that hundreds of people prayed to receive Christ after CNN broadcast the church's memorial service.
