CBNNews.com - The government is stepping in to help struggling auto parts suppliers linked to Detroit's automakers.

The treasury department is offering up to $5 billion in financing to the parts suppliers that have been hit hard by the economic downturn as GM Chrysler, and Ford cut back on production.

 Auto suppliers say dozens of their companies could collapse without this federal money.

More than half a million Americans are employed by auto suppliers.
