The growing national debt has reached a record $11 trillion -- the largest in U.S. history.
These new figures coming out of the Treasury Department are expect to cause major problems for President Obama, who is trying to pass big-ticket bills on health care, energy, and climate change.
Chairman of the Budget Committee Senator Kent Conrad told Politico.com that these new numbers could force Congress to make adjustments to the President's $3.6-trillion budget plan.
The $11 trillion deceit is significantly higher than the Obama administration originally estimated.
