Street Fighter Arcade FightStick: Joystick Joy

Ad Feedback - The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick, by Mad Catz, is a new controller peripheral that was released for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Licensed by Capcom, Street Fighter IV's developer, the controller brings the perfect arcade feel to your home. I performed special moves with the FightStick with ease as compared to trying to use the console controllers. Although the PS3's controller was definitely better to use than the 360's.

That old school feeling

I will admit that the FightStick had me a bit skeptical about how well it would work. It is not connected to an arcade machine it is just the arcade controls. But when I opened the box and pulled it out I noticed that it has the perfect amount of weight to it. I was able to play with it in my lap as well as set it on a table top and perform spinning bird kicks, and sonic boom's with ease. After a while of using the controller you tend to get the feeling that you are playing back in an arcade.

It's all in the presentation

Mad Catz realized that with the Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick it is all in how you present it. The FightStick requires you to plug it into your home console. It is not wireless. Normally that is a draw back But the FightStick has a compartment to store your cable in, and a small grove that the wire sits in when the controller is in use so you can close the flap.

The start and select button are on the back of the console so there is no way of accidentally pressing them while playing. At times it is a bit annoying when you are fighting the computer to have to take your hands off of the attack buttons to pause the game. It is minor in comparison to accidentally pausing the game throughout a fight.

The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick is the perfect controller for anyone who loves fighting games. It is crafted the same way as the Cabinet arcade pads, and works with multiple fighting games besides Street Fighter IV. It is durable and can take a lot of punishment when you have a group of friends over. With it's 150 dollar price tag it is definitely marketed to the serious fighting game fan, and collector. The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick receives a 5/5 - 5 being the best.
