Washington State will soon allow assisted suicide under the state's death with dignity law.
Terminally ill patients who have been told they have less than six months to live will be able to ask their doctors to give them lethal medications to commit suicide.
Washington is the second state to have voter-approved assisted suicide. Oregon was the first.
The measure passed with 60 percent of the vote last November.
The law takes effect Thursday.
