The Greek mythological remake Clash of the Titans and Myley Cyrus' teen drama The Last Song debuted at the box office over the Easter weekend.
The gods of Mount Olympus firmly staked their territory with the new film grabbing the number one slot at $61.4 million.
The goal of the movie's writers was to create a "fun adventure movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, but within itself, takes everything seriously," Clash of the Titans screenwriter Phil Hay recently told Comingsoon.net.
Meanwhile, trailing at number four was The Last Song, which brought in $16.2 million.
"Much of this story turns on a romance," said Focus on the Family Plugged-In film critic Adam Holtz. "But The Last Song is as much about family and forgiveness as it is teen twitterpation."
