Sandy Stienstra, from Dubuque, Iowa, now has prosthetic legs after contracting a rare blood infection and bacterial meningitis back in 1998.
For more than two weeks, she had remained in a coma. Doctors said she was not going to make it.
That's when her family did the only thing left they could do, they prayed.
"I remember them putting me on a cot, and the pain just started taking over my whole body. They all held hands I think and said this prayer out loud," Stienstra said. "The next morning, I woke up out of the coma."
Now that Stienstra has a new set of legs, you'd never know the difference. Since the surgery, she's traveled to England twice and continues to dance.
"I tell you, my legs are much sexier now than they were when I had my own," she said.
