A young pilot, Josh Guthrie, was killed while training as a missionary pilot in jungle aviation over the weekend. Guthrie crashed Sunday night during takeoff from an airport near Orlando, Fla.
He was training under Steve Saint, whose father's work in Ecuador inspired the movie "End of the Spear."
Saint spoke with CBN News about Guthrie's legacy.
"I think that we will see, like when my dad was and his friends were killed, and when my daughter died suddenly and unexpectedly, God works in mysterious ways," he said. "This is going to be a trial for us, but I'm determined that Josh's dream will live on, using aviation to bring comfort and both spiritual and physical and hope to people in a world beyond roads."
Saint says he'll remember Guthrie and his service as they continue to train missionary pilots to fly over the world's most difficult terrain.
