An incredible play captured on video during a college baseball game has turned into an Internet sensation.
During a game between Iona and Fordham, Fordham's Chris Walker got a hit with the bases loaded. Coming around first base, the runner Brian Kownack looks like a sure out at home. But he made an amazing jump over the catcher and dove to touch home plate to score.
"I didn't have anywhere to slide, so my first thought was to jump over him and I did that," said Kownack, Fordham's shortstop.
"It was weird, he looked like Superman and a swan and an acrobat all at once," Fordham Head Coach Nick Restaino said.
The Iona coach came out to dispute the call, but to no avail. Kownack was safe.
The amazing play capped a comeback for Fordham. They had been down 9 to 1. Walker's RBI's gave Fordham the win, 12 to 9.
