California Baptist University is mourning the loss of a coach killed in a crash while driving students to a training camp.
Cheerleading coach Wendy Rice was taking the university's cross country team to an event in Mammoth Lakes when an SUV struck their van, Monday night, near Bishop, Calif.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic event," said Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, CBU president. "We have lost a beloved member of our CBU family."
The other vehicle burst into flames killing Rice and two others in the SUV. Twelve of the CBU students on board were hurt and some are still in the hospital.
