Construction has started on what's being called a mega-mosque in a small Tennessee town.
The Murfreesboro project is moving forward ahead of schedule. The Islamic group only has enough money for the stage one of five phases, but they've decided to move forward with the project in case they face more opposition or any legal challenges.
Murfreesboro residents have been protesting the mosque and want to know where the funds are coming from.
The mega-mosque will also include a school, a gym and swimming pool.
The Murfreesboro project is just one of many"mega" mosques facing opposition in the U.S. CBN News spoke with pastor and attorney Randy Singer about the controversy and why people see the debate as a threat to freedom of religion.
