Rev. Robert Schuller, the founder of the Crystal Cathedral located in Garden Grove, Calif., is taking action to help the ministry meet its financial obligations.
Schuller and his family have taken a voluntary 50 percent pay cut to help pay $2 million in unpaid bills. The pay cuts are expected to last about two months.
Ministry employees will also have to take pay cuts of 5 to 10 percent.
The ministry is trying to reduce an estimated $55 million to $75 million budget deficit.
The Crystal Cathedral broadcasts the 'Hour of Power' program worldwide every week. The Orange County Register reported that several television stations have sued the megachurch for missed payments for its broadcasts, amounting to several hundred thousand dollars.
The newspaper also says at least 100 church employees have been laid off in the last year.
