Bible classes will no longer be taught in schools at Fort Wayne, Ind.

The school board voted Monday to end their religious education program operated by the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne since 1944.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the program last month for the parents of a third grader who they said their child was sent to Bible classes without their permission.

The school district now plans to teach character education in association with churches in the area.
