The Christian bass singer whose legendary voice rang over Rev. Billy Graham's gospel crusades for more than six decades has been selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.
George Beverly Shea, who has recorded 70 gospel albums over the span of his 80-year musical career, was also awarded a Grammy in 1965.
"I was surprised to receive the call from the Recording Academy president before Christmas and am honored for the recognition," Shea said. "The music has been for God's glory."
Other Lifetime Achievement recipients will include Dolly Parton, Julie Andrews, the Kingston Trio, and the Ramones.
Shea will receive the award in February, one week after his 102nd birthday.
