A Wisconsin mother was recently reunited with the daughter she chose life for some 46 years ago.
Mary-Ellen "Emmy" Reed was 17 when she made the painful decision to give her daughter, April, up for adoption.
"I gave birth to a little girl. I saw her that day. And that was the last time I saw her," Reed recalled.
But this year the two met for the first time over the Internet. They've forgiven each other and are using every moment to catch up on lost time.
"I'm even luckier because I get another chance. I have family. That is another chance for the both of us," daughter April Johnsted said.
"It's amazing the similarities. People always talk about nature versus nuture... This is my mom! Can you tell?" Johnsted added, pointing out that the two have a strong resemblance.
The mother and daughter hope their story will encourage others to reunite with their loved ones.
