Sen. Harry Reid's comments about President Obama is just the latest spark in a national conversation on race that has ignited since the 2008 election season.

It's a sensitive issue and can be even more tricky for black Christians who may struggle with forgiving racial issues and inequalities of today.

Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga., says the news surrounding Reid presents an excellent opportunity for the discussion of race in poitics, the church and other arenas.

He adds that it's also important for blacks to demonstrate unity and not be bitter.
