If you have ever been surprised by a bill you received in the mail, it is nothing compared to the shock one Colorado man recently received.
Jim Pagano could not believe his eyes when he saw his water bill totaled nearly $9 million.
When he called the local water company, he found out they recently switched to a computerized billing system. The utility officials said it was a just a bug in their new program.
Now everyone, including Pagano, is having a good laugh.
"Water is a very precious commodity and we like to make sure that we bill appropriately for its preciousness," said Louisville City Manager Malcolm Fleming.
"I was supposed to get this set up for electronic withdrawal in December and had I done that I'd certainly be in for a hurting this month," Pagano said.
Pagano was able to get his water bill adjusted down to a more reasonable $38.
