A Utah congressman is trying to block gay marriage in the nation's capitol.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, is introducing a bill that would prevent the Washington, D.C. City Council's measure legalizing same-sex marriage from taking effect and allow DC residents to vote on the matter.

Area pastors have been asking the city to let the people vote on whether or not to allow gay marriage in the district.
