U.S. military weapons inscribed with hidden Bible scripture references are creating new problems for Pentagon officials.

The scripture references are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights and are found at the end of the serial number. One of the inscribed scriptures is II Corinthians 4:6.

"For God, who said, let light shine out of darkness, made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."

Trijicon, the maker of the sights, admits to adding the scripture references, but says they are doing nothing wrong or illegal. The company has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the U.S. Marine Corps.

Critics say the references violate many federal laws and the U.S. Constitution.

"We are aware of the issue and are concerned with how this may be perceived," the U.S. Marine Corps told CBN News. "We will meet with the vendor to discuss future sight procurements."
