The man on trial for murdering a high-profile late-term abortion doctor took the stand in a Kansas courtroom, Thursday.
Scott Roeder claimed he was justified in killing late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
He took the stand in his own defense and showed no emotion. Roeder didn't mix words as he promptly admitted he shot and killed Tiller in May of last year:
Attorney: On May 31, 2009, did you go to the Reformation Lutheran Church and shoot and kill George Tiller?
Roeder: Yes.
Attorney: All the testimony that the state presented regarding the fact that you were the individual that performed that act, do you agree with?
Roeder: That is correct.
Attorney: You accept that as fact?
Roeder: Yes.
Tiller was shot and killed while attending service at the church. Roeder said he shot Tiller to save unborn children. He faces a first-degree murder charge and plead not guilty, despite his admission that he killed the doctor.
Roeder's defense team is trying to get a lesser conviction of voluntary manslaughter.
