One week after its July 4 weekend debut, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has a new crop of challengers at the box office.
Among the contenders is Universal Picture's Despicable Me, an animated film starring actor/comedian Steve Carrell.
The movie is about a bumbling bad guy named Gru and his quest to become the world's greatest super villain - by stealing the moon.
However, it appears an adorable trio of orphans may derail his plans.
The film's cartoonish evil antics lie in stark contrast to the darker Eclipse, the latest installment the love story between the teenage Bella and her vampire beau Edward.
"Eclipse, like Twilight and New Moon before it, is far more about romance than horror," Plugged-In film critic Paul Asay wrote. "And almost all romances, by their very nature, idealize both love and the lovers involved…But Eclipse takes that romanticism to another level."
Plugged-In Director Bob Waliszewski reviewed both movies on the Friday, July 9 edition of CBNNewschannel's Midday News. Click play for his comments.
