California teenager Steven Ortiz has found what many people would call success by bartering on Craigslist, the online trading and shopping website.
It took Ortiz two years to trade his way up to a car -- a 2000 model Porsche. The 17-year-old got his start with an old cell phone, trading it on the popular website.
A few trades later, he had an iPod, then a dirt bike. Those were soon followed by a truck and some cars.
Ortiz explained he was no casual trader and that he did his research, combing the Internet for good deals.
"I get so many people who say, 'Can you trade my phone for a car?' I just say, 'Yeah. It's not that easy,"' he told the Pasadena Star-News. "It takes time and patience, definitely."
Ortiz just received his drivers license and is looking forward to enjoying the benefits of all his hard work.
