The Rev. Robert Schuller is not stepping down as head of the Crystal Cathedral.
On Sunday, news outlets published reports across the Internet that he had announced his retirement. The 83-year-old Schuller has been in the pulpit of the Crystal Cathedral, located in Garden Grove, Calif., for 55 years and hosts the Christian TV show "Hour of Power."
His daughter and senior pastor at the church, Sheila Schuller Coleman, told the Los Angeles Times that reports of her father's retirement were untrue.
In an interview Sunday she said, "That's wrong. He's going to continue to preach until the day he dies."
Coleman said her father will not be leaving the church, but that he has assumed a new role as head of the church's board of directors. Coleman has assumed the role of lead pastor in the church, where she had been serving as mega-church's unofficial senior pastor for the last year.
"Dad is not retiring," she said. "I told that Dad's role would not be changing and mine would not be changing."
