A Texas man has been indicted in connection with supporting the terrorist organization al Qaeda. Officials said 29-year-old Barry Walter Bujol had been in contact with Yemeni cleric Anwar al Awlaki since 2008.
The FBI has named Awlaki as the mastermind behind several recent U.S. terrorist plots.
CBN News Terrorism Analyst Erick Stakelbeck reported Wednesday that even though Awlaki has fled to Yemen, his materials were still being sold in a Muslim supermarket near Washington D.C.
Awlaki allegedly sent e-mails to the Texas man guiding him on how to support terrorist groups. Bujol has been charged for providing materials and money to foreign fighters overseas. He was arrested after the FBI engaged the suspect in a sting operation that culminated with Bujol's arrest at the Port of Houston.
"This arrest is a sobering reminder of the threat we continue to face," said FBI Houston Special Agent in Charge Richard Powers.
