A Texas diabetic received the ultimate gift from his daughter on Father's Day - life.
Jeremy Berez of Dallas had been on dialysis for his condition for about a year and desperately needed a kidney transplant, but was told by his doctors that he was too old to receive one.
Later, testing revealed Jerry's daughter, Tracy Berez, was a perfect match.
"There was no hesitation - she said 'We're going to do it Dad' - and we did it," the 74-year-old told CBS Dallas affiliate TXA 21. "I opened my eyes, the first thing I said is 'How's Tracy?'"
"He looked so good," Tracy said. "I think he was perkier than I was."
"We just gave each other a hug and a kiss and we told each other how much we loved each other," she said. "I told him how great he looked and how great he sounded. And it's just pretty amazing that one day it's in me and the next day it's in him and he's looking great and doing good."
Jerry said he was more concerned about his daughter than himself, but Tracy insisted the transplant surgery was a win-win situation.
Doctors expect Jeremy to be released from the hospital on Tuesday.
