Despite the recession, moviegoers have consistently packed theatres to see their favorite films, especially 3-D and IMAX productions.
That could all change, however, as theatres across the nation raise ticket prices for the high tech movies.
Prices are jumping up by an average of a $1.50 per ticket. The hikes started Friday at Regal, AMC and Cinemark theaters nationwide.
For instance, the AMC Loews theater in Manhattan, N.Y., raised prices for its 3-D movies to $17.50. IMAX tickets at another theatre increased $2.00 to $19.50.
With the price changes, a family of four can now expect to pay nearly $60 to see movies like Alice in Wonderland in 3-D.
