Afghan President Hamid Karzai joined Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and other top U.S. military officials, Thursday, to pay tribute to fallen troops.

Karzai walked somberly through rows of headstones at Arlington National Cemetery's Section 60, which is devoted to those killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam and World War II. More than 500 soldiers are buried in the area.

Earlier this week, Karzai expressed his thanks to wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Thursday's 20-minute visit to the cemetery capped the leader's four-day visit to Washington.
