This week, churches across the U.S. will take part in the National Day of Prayer.

According to Pastor Dutch Sheets, it's something America stands in desperate need of.

"America is in a horrendous crisis of monumental proportions, a season much like Israel in the days of Joel," Sheets warned in a letter on his website.

"The Old Testament prophet warned of devastating judgment coming to Israel, but laced the warning with hope and Gods mercy if certain things occurred," he wrote. "That is precisely where we are in America."
