Edison Pena, one of the Chilean miners rescued from a collapsed mine last month, gave a rendition of his favorite Elvis Presley songs on "The Late Show" with David Letterman Thursday night.
He said the songs motivated him while he was trapped in the mine for 69 days.
He is the first of the 33 miners to visit the U.S. He is also here to compete in the New York marathon on Sunday.
Pena said he trained underground for the race by running five to six miles in the dark in heat up to 90 degrees. He told reporters in New York he trained to show God that he wanted to live.
This may not be Pena's last visit to America. He has also been invited to visit Graceland in Tennessee and Las Vegas.
