The Muslim activist group the Council on American-Islamic Relations is filing a lawsuit against the state of Oklahoma for its recently voter-passed measure banning Sharia law.
The group contends that the amendment passed by voters this week violates the U.S. Constitution. The measure bans Oklahoma judges from considering Sharia law in weighing cases.
The measure passed with 70 percent of the vote. CAIR calls the amendment unnecessary and offensive.
Officials have set a hearing for Monday, Nov. 8
