A flood ravaged Antioch, Tenn. school that was rebuilt courtesy of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" has reopened its doors.
Six months after news footage showed scenes of The Light Christian School floating away in the devastating floods that hit Nashville, Tenn. in May, students began moving into their new 6,500-square-foot facility on Monday.
Local celebrities like Leigh Ann Touhy, the inspiration for Sandra Bullock's character in the nationally acclaimed film "The Blind Side," helped design the new classrooms.
"We're very, very excited," Lighthouse Headmaster Brian Sweatt told The Tennessean. "It is the state-of-the-art, finest facility around and will be an incredible benefit for our preschoolers."
The teachers say they hope the new school will be a beacon of hope for the community.
"To have the community rally around to give us this incredible gift has been amazing," Sweatt said. "The spirit on campus is like never before. So many people are so excited about what's happened here at Lighthouse."
"By our community giving us this gift, it's given us great hope and allowed us to focus on what we do, which is educate young people. It's been a miracle," he said.
