Americans distrust of the news media has hit a record high, according to a new Gallup poll.
The survey showed 57 percent said they have little or no trust in the media to report the news fairly and accurately. Only 43 percent said they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media.
Forty-eight percent of those polled said the media is too liberal. While 15 percent of Americans believe the news is too conservative, 33 percent described news coverage as "just about right."
The poll also found that people with more education and higher incomes are less likely to trust the media.
The poll was conducted between Sept. 13-16 of this year with a random sample of 1,019 adults, aged 18 and older, living in the continental U.S.
