Violent crime in the United States is down for the third straight year.

A report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation shows violent crime in 2009 dropped five-point-three percent, with decreases in all categories.

Murder dropped by more than seven percent. Robbery decreased by eight percent and rape decreased by more than two percent.

Non-violent crimes also saw similar declines.
