An Iraq war veteran who recently survived a dramatic motorcycle accident caught on tape said it's hard to believe he's survived so much.
Traffic camera video shows Army Cpl. Zacharie Perez being smashed between two cars and thrown off of his motorcycle on the Dallas North Tollway.
A driver slammed into the 25-year-old from behind as he was on his way home from work.
"I remember landing. I pushed myself back to the left lane because I landed in the center and then I tried to get up, but there was too much pain. I couldn't get up," Perez recalled.
"I survived Iraq and I come back home and almost die on the tollway," he added. "I think it should be the other way around."
Perez broke a rib and four vertebrae, ruptured his spleen and suffered a hernia.
The driver who hit him had no license or insurance. Perez said he's baffled the man was not arrested and only got off with three tickets.
"He gets three tickets, and I get sent to the hospital," Perez said. "It's just frustrating."
