A model and fashion blogger who was severely injured when she accidentally walked into an a airplane propeller is making amazing progress in her recovery.

The propeller's spinning blade sliced Lauren Scruggs' face and badly injured her left shoulder. She also lost her left hand in the Dec. 3 accident.

Scruggs, 23, is now eating some of her favorite foods and is walking the halls in her hospital with the help of a therapist. Doctors fear Scruggs may lose her left eye, but say her facial nerves are healing well.

Her parents, who are Christians, call her progress 'miraculous.'

"She's smiling. She's able to raise both eyebrows," her father, Jeff Scruggs, said. "That doesn't sound like a bit deal, but they were worried about the nerve on one side, and she's able to do that."

"So we're so grateful and thankful for all of that," he said.

Investigators say Scruggs was apparently changing places with another passenger in a small plane when she walked into the plane's propeller.
